Fried plantain make a perfect lunch snack ,starter or side dish! Eaten broadly across many African, Caribbean and South American cuisines this dish is quite a treat and super easy to make! We love this dish because it truly does give you that comfort food feeling and it can be eaten alongside pretty much anything.


Recipe For Fried Plantain

Fried Plantain Recipe

Prep Time 5 mins
Cook Time 20 mins
Course Appetizer, Side Dish
Servings 3 People

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Sunflower oil
  • 2 Plantain
  • Lemon Zest
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Peel the plantain and then cut up each plantain into diagonal pieces (see feature image).
  • Add sunflower oil to a frying pan and heat on medium-high heat. Once the oil is nice hot , add in the plantain a portion at a time – so the pan isn't too full.
  • Cook until golden brown. Get a plate ready with a paper towel on top . Then remove the plantain from the frying pan and allow the excess oil to drain out on a paper towel on plate.
  • Season with salt and pepper to you taste if needed. Don't forget to sprinkle on a little lemon zest on top…it's so yummy!

Notes

Tip: Adding on a little lemon zest gives this dish such a yummy kick!
